It was amazing festival
When we started the Anatolian Artist Festival, we had a very specific goal in mind: To help artists affected by the global pandemic. We underestimated the generosity and ingenuity of our community. Now with the help of our many patrons and most especially with the contributions of Dr. Tamer Seçkin, our small exhibition has grown into a monthlong festival.
A total of forteen artists will be displaying their work at this festival, including many artists who hail from Anatolia thus giving our exhibition its name. The festival will feature not just exhibitions but also stage shows and concerts. We will endeavor to delight all the senses while contributing to a deeper understanding of our shared ancestry.
By organizing the Anatolian Artists Festival, we aim to not only give these wonderful artists a space to share their passions with you, but also to bring you together as a community to gather and understand the richness of the talent amongst us.
The Anatolian Artists Festival is organized by
Erden Arkan and Ali Sarikaya.

ART IS LIFE & LIFE IS ART
Art is as natural to me as eating and breathing; it’s a vital part of my livelihood. I have been drawing since I was six years old and throughout the years I’ve focused my creative passion on design, photography, music, martial arts, athletics, psychology, and wellness. It wasn’t until a few years ago, when I began to paint regularly, that I learned much more about myself and the power of being in FLOW.
My mission is to take the viewers on a journey similar to the one I went through during the creation process, to be present and allow their imagination to run freely. I intend to continue to practice, learn and help inspire others to reconnect with nature and inner-nature. The purpose is to reach a mutual feeling of mindfulness, inner peace, and flow; in other words, universal consciousness. I imagine a world where we all love and support one another, working symbiotically and coexisting with all life under the sun.

I dream, draw, weave and touch.
Born in magnificient city of İstanbul in 1964; currently living in beloved and sunny Bodrum in the south of Turkey.
During the years I studied at Üsküdar Amerikan Academy in İstanbul, I encountered with different art techniques and weaving. After my university years in Bosphorus University having studied marketing and BA, I chose advertising and marcom as leading career. During the hard working years as the leading manager in advertising agencies like McCann Ericson, Saatchi & Saatchi, Wunderman, art has been a second yet a strong partner in my life.
I believe tapestry weaving is the best way in expressing myself in which I am able to unite different techniques of art together with my passion to fibers and story telling. I enjoy creating depths using differing fibers in single tapestry like jute, sisal, straw, bamboo , cotton, wool ; absolutely all natural.
I try to get together traditional knots with traditional motifs but redefining them all. I am designing over the residues left in me as I dive into deep water, walk into a marketplace or digest all the incredible archeology, architectural diversity and Anatolian traditional patterns of my home country. Evil eye, sea with all its shades and creatures, İznik tiles, Aegean and Mediterranean cultures, their mythologies and legends are my major resources. Traditional behaviors, ethnic patterns, nature inspire; I differentiate and remake them into my lean designs.
I try to portray the region with all its sentiment and joy through a novel and contemporary tapestry understanding.

I studied journalism at Marmara University in Istanbul and worked for Esquire Magazine as a correspondent/editor for two years. Life brought me to New York City. I came as a student and financed myself during my journey. I never stopped chasing my dreams despite facing many hardships as an immigrant. I decided to build an online magazine called The FAKE Magazine so I can expand my network and listen to their stories. I learned
how to make videos and started producing content about startups, successful immigrants, and artists in
the USA. In 2 years, it turned to be a video production company that I worked with other creatives.

Photographer
Julie Mardin became fascinated with violent toys, and started using miniatures in her photography to express questions about adult society in the mid-1990s.
Much of this work culminated in a solo show in 2001 at the beloved Marmara Gallery in New York’s upper east side, curated by actress/director, Zishan Ugurlu, and with a soundtrack by her brother musician Joe Mardin.
She has gone on to exhibit her photo collages in group and solo shows since, and is in many diverse collections.
Ms. Mardin received an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia University, and a degree in Commercial Photography from the Center for the Media Arts in New York. Born in New York of Turkish parents, she and her brother from a very young age were sent to Istanbul to spend summers with their grandparents. These happy memories of a still swimmable Bosphorus, fruits and vegetables that tasted like none other in the world, and that were so readily available, all form an essential core inside her. In recent years she has become more directly involved in environmental, food sovereignty and safe technology issues, and has written, produced artwork, and curated for The Light Millennium, a UN-affliated NGO, as well as New Yorkers 4 Wired Tech, and does a great deal of independent research that can be found on her blog, www.perfectchaos.club.
Her current Souvenir Doll series, set in her hometown of New York, likewise expresses a longing for a time of purer food and water, and questions what it is we consider progress. Once again she uses mass produced objects of pop culture to express difficult sentiments.

She worked as a graphic designer for many years. She started living in America in 2010.
As a result of some spiritual experiences she had in 2019, she entered the spiritual education process. This process is reflected in her art as an effort to display the bond between the human spirit and the unknown. The artist, who is currently a Regression and Energy Therapist, reflects the spiritual guidance and inspiration she receives in her works.
Between 1998 and 2008, she participated in several group exhibitions in Turkey with her photographs, writing, drawings and artistic works.
